As an undergrad, he completed an honors thesis project in genetics while graduating with a degree in Biology at the University of Oregon. He received his masters degree in traditional Chinese medicine from FiveBranches Institute in 2003. He studied abroad for a time in China at the Zhejiang College of traditional Chinese medicine. He interned in multiple Chinese hospitals and clinics with experts in the field, observing first hand how seamlessly western medicine and acupuncture can be integrated. His vision for the future of health care is based on this experience.
